External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee is likely to meet US President Bush in Washington during the day, where the civil nuclear deal will be the big focus.
Mukherjee will first be meeting with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
The Americans are keen to know where talks with the Left parties are headed. Time is running out for the deal to be cleared by the US Congress ahead of the US elections.
The US would like to know the status of talks the UPA has had with the Left parties over the Indo-US nuclear deal.
