Kapaleswarar Temple Rajagopuram consecrated


The kumbhabishekam of the rajagopuram of Sri Kapaleeswarar temple in Mylapore was performed on Thursday amidst chanting of vedic mantras.

Several thousands devotees witnessed the consecration of rajagopuram, which was renovated after a damage caused by lightning in February 2007. The temple tower was completely renovated at a cost of Rs 12 lakh.

The yagasala poojas for the consecration ceremony began on February 25 which came to a close in the early hours of Thursday. The pots containing holy water for abhishekam were taken in a procession. After the ceremony was over, holy water was sprinkled on the devotees through sprinklers.
