5.3-magnitude quake struck at about 1 am and was centred about 125 miles north of London, the British Geological Survey said.The epicentre was in Market Rasen in Lincolnshire, a small market town known for its race course.
The tremor is the biggest in Britain since 1984 when north Wales was hit by a quake which was registered at 5.4 on the Richter scale.The damage to homes and property is estimated to be in excess of 10 million pounds.
